Questions to Ask Your Manuscript: Plot

In this FREE course, you’ll identify the three important turning points in some strong middle grade fiction, learn why the placement of these turning points is so important, and then apply these tools to your own manuscript. These tools can be used during the revision process, or when you are planning a story from the ground up. Examples from excellent children’s books will be given for each point. We’ll also show you how to create a Plot Map to visually represent these turning points in your story.

Kiri, This was just excellent. I’ll be asking my manuscript these questions about the plot. I’m going to tell my critique group about your website. Thank you! Maureen Carol Bradford

Hi Allegra, I’m just starting this course and I saw your question about the learning code. It can be found in the “My Account” tab- then scroll down to “Notifications”- then all your notifications will be listed on the right. (Select the “Certificate of Completion” for the class you would like to get the learning code for) And it shows toward the bottom of the certificate: Learning Code: xxxxx. (Hope that helps!) You can choose to print, save, or share the Certificate also.

Great content! I didn’t have any story writing experience form 2016-2021 Then out of the blue, a 12k story. Prior to that, I was a poet, not a fiction writer and the only thing I had under my belt, was reading. I spent 4-5 days with no sleep in 2/2021. I’ve been so close to the story until recently. So, three years in and I’m working toward 25-30k words. (I’m at 16k.) This course is helping me so much. I feel like I want to do one of the more in depth ones. So I’m giving my manuscript the best possible foundation for success. Thanks so much, Kiri!
