Virtue Focus: Selflessness

When a child develops the virtue of selflessness, they begin to shift away from focusing on their own needs and desires, and start to see the needs of others first. Selflessness is a powerful virtue to bring peace and happiness in life. 

Tips for training your child to develop Selflessness:

  • Seek times as a family to discuss the needs of a neighbor or friend. Model noticing when needs are not being fulfilled, and how to help.
  • Plan a family service project. Through your community or church, find a way to serve others. Make this a regular event. 
  • Read a book together that portrays the main character developing Selflessness, like this book:
