Virtue Focus: Resilience

When a child develops the virtue of resilience, they begin to recognize the true weight of negative events, and recognize their power to rise up again. They become grounded in a growth mindset. The ability to be resilient in the face of setbacks is a virtue that will serve them their entire lives.

Tips for training your child to develop Resilience:

  • When unexpected setbacks occur, model responding to them with calmness and forward thinking.
  • When out in nature, look for ways animals and plants are resilient. Discuss how they handle tough situations. 
  • Read a book together that portrays the main character developing Resilience, like this book:
