Virtue Focus: Patriotism

When a child develops an understanding of what patriotism is, they begin to appreciate their own heritage, opportunities, and responsibility attached to their world. Understanding patriotism on a personal level will benefit your child and your country both.

Tips for training your child to develop Patriotism:

  • Seek for opportunities to discuss family history stories, community history stories, and national history stories that make the foundation of your child’s world personal. 
  • Take a family trip to a museum that includes historical exhibits. Discuss the people who built what we all enjoy now, at all levels.
  • Read a book together that portrays the main character developing patriotism, like this book:
