Virtue Focus: Empathy

When a child develops the virtue of empathy, they begin to respond to the needs of others, regardless of what they are experiencing themselves. Empathy is a beautiful virtue to bring peace through life. 

Tips for training your child to develop empathy:

  • Model conversation that shows empathy when discussing other people and situations. 
  • Find an opportunity to provide a meal or treat to someone in need, and include your child in the preparation and delivery.
  • Read a book together that portrays the main character developing empathy, like this book:
