Virtue Focus: Changing Perspective

When a child develops the virtue of changing perspective, they begin to see the world and people around them in new ways. This ability will serve them well as they face new challenges throughout their lives. 

Tips for training your child to develop the ability to change perspective:

  • During discussions, ask your child how they think other people might understand the situation. Help them learn that perspectives can shift.
  • Next time you are out in nature, try looking at the same natural object from different perspectives. Point out how the image changes as the perspective changes.
  • Read a book together that portrays the main character developing the ability to change perspective, like this book:
