Virtue Focus: Appreciation

When a child develops the virtue of appreciation, they begin to notice the positive things already in their life instead of focusing on what they do not have. Appreciation is a virtue that leads to contentment and peace later in life. 

Tips for training your child to develop Appreciation:

  • As part of the bedtime routine, list three things they saw that day that were awesome.
  • Next time you are walking in nature, point out beautiful or unusual sights. Encourage your child to find some things to point out too.
  • Read a book together that portrays the main character developing Appreciation, like this book:
